There has been some recent changes within the Section's Executive Committee that we would like to share: We are sad to say goodbye to our Awards Chair, Chris Latta, MSc. We are excited to welcome Anika Szuszman as the Young Professionals (YP) Chair. Anika's maritime journey began during her childhood, when she explored the coast of Maine on her family's summer vacations. While boating among the various islands in Penobscot Bay, her love for the ocean flourished. Fast forward to her college years, Anika pursued a UM Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering degree at the University of Michigan. It was there that she was introduced to SNAME and has been a dedicated member for over six years. She previously served as the Young Professional Chair for the SNAME Southwest Section while working as an Engineer at General Dynamics NASSCO. We are pleased to welcome Anika to the GLGR section board. Anika currently works for her alma mater as the Assistant Director of the Aaron Friedman Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory and endeavors to connect students and young professionals to our society. She is passionate about inspiring young women to join the maritime industry, recruiting new students to the department, and providing shipyard experiences to the students. Please help in welcoming Anika. If you are interested in filling the role of Awards Chair, please reach out.

Our lone virtual presentation from Mayuresh Paradkar dove into the recent SNAME Ship Structure Committee Paper: "SSC-476 Design and Performance Evaluation Methods for Crack Arrestor Enhanced Aluminum Marine Structures". It was nice to have a variety of topics and and discussions at this year's meeting. Maryuresh went into great detail about an innovative solution to an outstanding aluminum structures issue.

James Weakley was in person to present at our Winter Meeting in Cleveland. As the President of the Lake Carriers Association he was able to give updates on topics critical to Great Lakes Shipping. Thank you for the pertinent, and occasionally humorous, presentation.

SNAME was excited to have participation again from the U.S. Coast Guard when LCDR Joe Burgess gave general inspection updates and then talked about Li Ion in marine applications as well as #EVs on board vessels.

Thank you to our first speaker of the day, Paul Blomquist, who appealed for insight from SNAME members in attendance for needed technologies and materials for which EWI could focus future efforts on. It is the collaboration between different parts of the maritime sector like this that drives innovation.
